Dusty Farm Visit

Today we went to visit Ripples Farm. It was somewhat weird and desolate as they have run out of funding and are in the process of completing a hospital. The farm which they started 1 yr ago is on the hospital site which is a large flat piece of land with a massive building (the hospital) several goat sheds and not much else except dust and wind. They have been using drip irrigation very successfully as they have limited water. We went to share our knowledge and learn from them. They surprisingly had excellent production even in the harsh conditions and were providing for the orphaned children at Ripples as well as people in the community infected with HIV/AIDS. They had many goats and were doing a good job of farming although in a fairly conventional way.
