About Chris O'Connell

Chris is the Chief Brand Officer, Photographer, Founder, and Chairman of Armada Skis. In the early 2000s, freeride skiing was practically an unknown sport. Chris was working as a commercial photographer for the ski and snowboard industry and observed that there was a void to be filled to support the athletes of the freeride world while the ski industry chose to focus on racing. Chris and his buddies and co-founders conceived of Armada as an innovative design company, freeride in spirit, and driven by the top athletes in the sport.

About Armada Skis

Armada was founded in 2002 as skiing’s first rider-owned, rider-operated manufacturer. The athlete-driven, design-obsessed, and technologically superior company is on the cutting edge of the industry. Their innovative ski design blew the possibilities of the sport wide open. The JJ, Armada’s iconic ski, is credited as being “the first all-mountain powder ski with rocker”. An Armada mark means the mark of innovation – “We are Armada. We are what skiing will become.”
