Create Your Own Fundraiser

We want to see you take some initiative and throw your own grassroots AI fundraiser. It can be big or small, super sophisticated or low key. Do it by yourself or with a group of friends. It doesn't matter how you choose to fundraise. We just want you to have fun becoming actively involved with AI while bringing your community together around an awesome cause. All proceeds from your fundraiser will go directly toward the continuation of various AI projects.

Come up with your very own idea for a fundraiser or imitate something that you know works. All that matters is that you choose something your community will enjoy and something you can pull off. The possibilities are endless.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Contact AI to receive your host a fundraiser how-to kit.
  2. Come up with a great idea, and create a strategy to pull it off.
  3. Tell us what you have planned.
  4. Invite your friends and/or community to participate.
  5. Throw your fundraiser while also educating guests about AI’s work.
  6. Kindly request participants to make donations to AI.
  7. Send the donations to AI.
  8. Sit back and watch AI put your donated funds to good use.

The possibilities are endless, but here are some ideas to get the wheels turning

movie night

Have an alternative movie theater in your town donate the theater for one night, or donate your own TV for one night. Asking for a suggested donation of $10, invite all of your friends over to watch a socially or environmentally conscious movie. Donate the proceeds to AI.

bar party

Ask your favorite local bar to host a party and do drink specials or donate a keg. Collect schwag from local businesses to give away as door prizes to attendees. Charge a reasonable amount for entrance to the party, and donate all the proceeds to AI.

dinner party

While hosting a dinner party, ask everyone to donate $20. If only five people attend, that’s already $100. Even a small dinner party can go a long way.

write a letter

Write a letter to your friends and family explaining why you are excited about AI and asking them to make a donation directly to the organization.

tips drive

Get your friends that work in restaurants to donate all or a portion of their tips from one day’s work. Have a local business donate a piece of gear, which will be awarded to one of the participants by pulling a name out of a hat.

sell your used gear

Round up a group of friends to collect used gear from last season and sell it all to a second-hand sporting goods store. Donate the proceeds to AI.

volunteer

Offer to exchange your skills for a donation. Shovel your neighbors’ sidewalk, walk their dog, wash their car, babysit their kids, etc. Then ask them to make a donation in your name to AI. 

milk jug

Approach a local shop to ask if you can place a milk jug with a description of AI on their checkout counter. After several months, collect the money to donate to AI.

 

It doesn't matter what you do as long as you have fun. Become incredibly organized to do something really big, or keep the fundraiser simple and just wing it. It's up to you. Contact AI at DIY@alpineinitaitives.org to get started on your grassroots fundraiser.
